It will take bold honesty to swallow this morsel: If you are Jewish, surely for the vast majority of us, there are important decisions that you have no part in that are made for you. The first such decision is made for all of us males at the tender age of 8 days. I am sure there has never been one of us who at that time made the decision to be circumcised.
There are a series of other decisions that were made for us throughout our childhood. Bedtime, school, diet, rules, Bar and Bat Mitzvah and on and on. When we become adults we take more and more responsibility in making our own decisions. Except for one. The identity the Messiah.
One of the 13 precepts of Judaism is that we as Jews believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Messiah. However a decision has been made for us, indeed has been made for you, as to who he cannot be. You have not thought it through, you have not looked at any evidence yet as a Jew you are confident that the Messiah has not yet come and by no means can he be the itinerant Rabbi from Nazareth named Yeshua more widely known as Jesus Christ. The decision made by the vast majority of Jews to reject any possibility that he is the Messiah is a fascinating phenonema. This decision has not been one made by individual free thinking Jewish adults. It is a decision that has been made for you by others. When you find out who these decisions makers were and how they arrived at this decision you will not be very happy. It may be time to rethink this decision.
