A “No Brainer”- Do Jews remain Jewish when they follow the King of the Jews?

16 October 2010 2 Comments

When Jewish people come to faith in the promised Messiah of Israel are they still Jewish?  How can they not be?  It is absolutely AMAZING than anyone would think that a Jew who follows his own King – Yeshua, the King of the Jews that he is no longer Jewish!  That’s like saying an Irishman who celebrates St. Patty’s day is no longer Irish!

First of all Yeshua was Jewish or he could not be the Messiah.  All the apostles were Jewish. And in the beginning all the disciples of Yeshua were Jewish. Help me to understand how it is possible for someone to lose their Jewish identity by following the Jewish Messiah?  Duh!!!

The Jewish people were the only people who were expecting & waiting for the Messiah. One of the 13 precepts of Judaism is: I will wait with perfect faith for the coming of the Messiah. If there is no Jewish Messiah there is no Messiah.

The very concept of the Messiah is one deeply embedded in the spirit of Israel. Will he one day come? Or has he come already?

We know those who call themselves Christians believe Jesus is the Messiah. However if he is not Israel’s Messiah how can he be any one’s Messiah? The truth is 99.99% of Jewish people know precious little or nothing about the most famous Jew of all, Jesus of Nazareth or Yeshua Ha Notzri, his real name, in Hebrew of course.

Yeshua lived and died in the land of Israel – he was 100% Jewish. He never converted to another religion nor did he start a new one.

The vast majority of Jewish people have no idea why they don’t believe he is the Messiah. We just don’t.  We grow up believing he is their god (the Gentile god) and in no way can he be ours. I find it hilarious that the “god of the Gentiles” is Jewish!

The bottom line is this: I have yet to meet a Jewish person who knows why Yeshua cannot be the Messiah. Here is the embarrassing reason why we do not believe in him: a binding decision not to, was made for us! Yes do you realize that our leaders in the first century made the most far reaching decision in our history which has shaped the faith of Israel to this day.  This decision was a collasal mistake. And it was made by what Jewish history records were some of our most corrupt leaders ever! How did we ever allow this travesty to go unchecked for so many hundreds of years?  There is an historic yet forgotten event behind our unbelief.

To be continued…

The title of this article really had me confused. It was understandable that they did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah. At that time, they needed proof and they grew up believing a certain belief for such a long time. If it happened today, I think it would still be the same scenario.

Hello. Thanks for your comment. My point is that since Yeshua is indeed the Jewish Messiah it is ludicrous for Jews who follow him to no longer be considered Jewish. I fully understand the way Jewish people think in that they believe that a follower of Jesus has converted to another religion and has left Judaism but nothing could be further from the truth. The Messiah nor his disciple started a new religion. Yeshua is the mediator of a New Covenant not a new religion and that covenant was made with the House of Israel and the House of Judah. The gentiles are grafted in and have equal access to this covenant but it began as something 100% Jewish and has become through the activity of the enemy 100% foreign to the Jewish people
