The Land
Israel
The land of Israel is God’s prophetic timepiece and God’s covenant nation. It is the nation created and called to be a blessing to all nations. Israel is the geographic center of the world and the only nation in history to be exiled from it’s homeland and later return to it. Hebrew is the only language in history to have been lost and then restored to be spoken again.
The land of Israel is central to God’s plan to restore and redeem the world.
Israel cannot be separated from the Messiah and the Messiah cannot be separated from Israel. The Lamb of God and the Land of God are eternally bound together.
Hosea 11:1 “When Israel was a child, I loved him,
And out of Egypt I called My son.
Yeshua was born in Israel, lived in Israel, died in Israel and was raised from the dead in Israel. He was born King of the Jews, died King of the Jews, and will return to Jerusalem as King of the Jews to rule the earth from the throne of David.
The land of Israel was given to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac. It is amazing that Israel, which is only the size of New Jersey, is continually at the center of world news. Why is there such attention and conflict over this small parcel of land? That is a question I will attempt to answer as this blog evolves.
Most Jewish people are connected to Israel no matter what their position of faith is. Israel is the Jewish homeland. If you have enough Jewish blood to have been killed by the Nazis then you have enough to become a citizen of Israel.
For the most part if you ask 10 Israelis or indeed any 10 Jewish people what they believe you will get 11 different answers! There are Jewish atheists, Buddhists, agnostics, Orthodox, Conservative, reform, even Hind-Jews!
In Israel the only accepted stream of Judaism is Orthodoxy. Within the Orthodox community there are more sects and beliefs than you can imagine. One thing is sure – Jewish people are as diverse as people from any nation.
Jewish people are divided over the issue of land even in Israel itself. Liberals are in favor of a Palestinian State along side Israel. Settlers, who are bible believers, believe in Israel’s right to all the land and are willing to lay down their lives for their belief.
Here are some questions to consider:
- What should followers of Yeshua believe about the geographic land of Israel?
- What about the Arabs who live in the land of Israel?
- Is land for peace a good idea?
- Are the Arabs enemies of the Jews?
- What about Jerusalem?
- Who are the Palestinians?
- Does the Land of Israel belong to the Jewish people? If so, who says so?
- Is there a connection between the Land of Israel and the Messiah?
- Does scripture speak about the modern State of Israel?
- What can we learn from the wars against Israel since it was founded in 1948?
I will be posting articles attempting to answer these questions so stay posted!
